Train Screeches 67 Meters Past Woman Stuck In Tracks!

A Tsurumai Line subway train driver approached Akaike Station on Monday afternoon when he saw a woman on the tracks in the tunnel before the platform. He then applied the emergency brakes but was not able to bring the train to a stop until his train stopped 67 meters from where he originally noticed the woman, according to a statement released by the city transit authority on Monday. The incident occurred at 2:53 p.m. and caused 7 trains on the line to come to a complete stop.

According to the report, the driver was able to stop the train in the tunnel before it arrived at Akaike Station’s platform. Staff from the station then searched the tunnel and found the woman, whose age and name were not reported, uninjured and standing between the train and the track’s wall, the report said.

The train station staff escorted the approximately 300 passengers off the train and through the tunnel and into Akaike Station. All trains on the Tsurumai Line resumed service about an hour later at 3:50 p.m. with minor delays throughout the afternoon, the statement concluded.

The report and further inquiries to the city’s transit office could not give the reason for the woman being found in the tunnel.
