Police Charge Truck Driver for Careless Driving in Massive Pileup

Drive-cam footage starts at the 29-second mark

Aichi Prefecture Police charged a 54-year-old Nagoya City truck driver for careless driving yesterday which caused a 24-car collision on Route 41 in Komaki City. 12 people were taken to the hospital including the truck driver. Multiple news outlets reported that none of the injured have life threatening injuries.

Drive cam footage taken from a rear-ended truck showed the start of the collision between the arrested man’s truck and multiple trucks and light compact “Kei” cars.

Police alleged the driver, who was delivering pharmaceuticals from Minato Ward in Nagoya City, collided without breaking. They are currently investigating the driver’s dispatch company and his residence.
