Nagoya City is set to send out free vaccination tickets to health care workers who received their second shot over eight months ago, according to a release from the city Friday. The city provided second shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to professional health care workers in May of this year, and is aiming at giving that same group a third vaccination on Dec. 13, and the following Monday, Dec. 20.
The reason for the third vaccination shot, according the release, is the efficacy of the initial two doses of the vaccine weakens after eight months.
The statement said the third vaccination is not being mandated and is dependent on an individual’s desire to take the third vaccination. The statement continued that people at any workplace should not be forced to be vaccinated, and to not discriminate against those who are unvaccinated.
