The Japan Meteorological Agency’s Nagoya Meteorological Observatory announced flood alerts early Monday afternoon. Areas most likely vulnerable are near the Shonai, Kiso and Nagara Rivers. The agency warned that residents living in lowlands should be prepared for evacuation as the rivers are expected to increase into the evening.
