Fast fashion retailer H&M closed its Nagoya first floor shop on May 8 in Matsuzakaya’s Minami (south) building as part of its plan to shutter 240 of its stores this year. The shop featured youthful women’s fashion but the retailer said it is focusing on higher growth markets in Asia in its plans to adjust away from countries with shoppers that have switched towards online retailing during the coronavirus pandemic.
The first floor space which faces Otsu Dori will be occupied by Tokyu Hands in the fall, and is the new location for the branch that closed in the Annex Building. According to the company’s website, the relocated store will be a mid-size shop, and will leave the Nagoya Station branch the only large size Tokyu Hands in Nagoya City.
