Nagoya’s Best Baguette Shop “Le Plaisir du Pain” Now Bakes in Yagoto

Owner Nicholas Venon reports business is double in the first week since opening in the new location

Nicolas Venon opened the doors of his newest bakery on June 2 to long line of regular and new customers. The new location sells only to take home and now has parking in front of the new shop.

Mr. Venon and his wife Norie Venon closed their three Higashiyama and Hisaya Odori operations and now work from a single location. Mr. Venon said the will improve efficiency, and cut down on time spent moving between locations, and will reduce reliance on part-time staff. They also are able to supply their growing online store better, according to Mr. Venon.

Le Plaisir du Pain was well known in the Higashiyama area for his award winning croissants and baguettes and also for its innovative and diabetic friendly pastries and cakes that don’t use sugar. The new location is a five-minute walk from the subway station Yagoto Nisseki on the Meijo Line and is open Thursdays through Mondays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
