JPLT Applications Set to Start On Time

Sites scheduled for all Tokai Prefectures

Starting from Thursday, August 26, Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) test takers in Japan can apply online at the exam center’s site. The Dec. 5 exam will be held at sites in each prefecture and at sites around the world, according to Japan Educational Exchange Services. Test site locations are tentatively set for Aichi, Gifu, and Mie Prefectures, but will be confirmed at the end of Nov. in mailings sent along with examination passes.

The JLPT is generally held twice a year, and the first exam of 2021 was held on schedule in Japan, but all tests outside Japan were canceled. The first exam of 2020 was canceled in Japan and around the world because the spike of the first and second waves of COVID-19 infections. The continuing increase of COVID-19 infections caused the second exam of 2020 to limit applications two weeks later than scheduled and only within a two-week window.
